FAQs
Q1: What causes a hub bearing to make a clicking noise that only appears when reversing out of a driveway?
A: Reversing changes the direction of torque applied to the bearing, shifting the load to the opposite contact surface. If damage exists on the reverse-load side of the raceway, the clicking will only be heard when the vehicle moves backward.
Q2: Why does my new hub have a small metal clip holding the ABS wire to the connector?
A: This clip secures the wire in the correct position during shipping and provides a reference point for proper routing during installation. It can be removed once the wire is routed along the factory path.
Q3: Can a bad hub bearing cause my vehicle to make a vibration that is felt in the brake pedal during highway driving?
A: Yes. A worn bearing allows the hub to wobble slightly at high speeds, which transfers uneven rotation to the brake rotor. This creates a subtle pulsation in the brake pedal even when the brakes are not being applied, caused by the pads lightly contacting the warped rotor surface.
