FAQs

Q1: Why does my hub bearing make a noise that only appears when the vehicle is cold and the engine has just started?

A: Cold temperatures cause the grease inside the bearing to thicken, increasing internal friction. If the bearing has minor wear, the thicker grease can amplify noise during the first few minutes of driving until the bearing warms up and the grease thins out.

Q2: Why does my new hub have a small engraved arrow on the ABS sensor body?

A: Some sensor assemblies are directional and must be installed in a specific orientation. The arrow indicates the correct installation direction relative to the encoder ring — always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Q3: Can a hub bearing failure cause my vehicle to make a noise that sounds like a failing power steering pump?

A: Yes. Both can produce a whining or groaning sound that changes with steering input. To differentiate, check whether the noise changes with vehicle speed (hub bearing) or steering wheel position (power steering pump).
