FAQs
Q1: Why does my hub bearing make a noise that only appears when driving through a car wash?
A: High-pressure water jets can force water past compromised seals and into the bearing assembly. The water mixes with the grease, reducing lubrication and causing a temporary grinding or squeaking sound that may fade once the bearing dries out.
Q2: Why does my new hub have a small plastic spacer between the ABS sensor and the encoder ring?
A: The spacer maintains the correct air gap during shipping and handling. It must be removed before installation to allow the sensor to read the encoder ring at the proper distance.
Q3: Can a hub bearing failure cause my vehicle to make a noise that sounds like a loose suspension bushing? A: Yes. A worn bearing can create a clunking or creaking sound over bumps, similar to a worn control arm bushing. Check for bearing play by lifting the vehicle and wobbling the wheel before replacing suspension components.
