FAQs
Q1: What causes a hub bearing to fail prematurely?
A: Common causes include impact damage from potholes or curbs, improper installation torque, contamination from water or road salt breaching the seals, and excessive vehicle load from towing or heavy cargo.
Q2: Why is there a small metal clip on the ABS wire connector?
A: This clip locks the connector into the vehicle's wiring harness socket. If the clip is broken or missing, vibration can cause an intermittent connection, triggering an ABS fault code even though the sensor itself is functioning properly.
Q3: Can I use a hammer to tap the axle into the new hub?
A: Never strike the end of the axle shaft directly with a hammer. This can damage the internal splines or alter the bearing preload. Always thread the axle nut back on partially to protect the threads, then use a soft-faced mallet or a dedicated installation tool.
