FAQs
Q1: Why do some hub assemblies have a wire harness while others do not?
A: Hubs with a wire harness have an integrated ABS wheel speed sensor built directly into the assembly. Hubs without a wire rely on a separate, external ABS sensor mounted on the steering knuckle pointing toward a toothed ring.
Q2: Can a bad wheel bearing affect my vehicle's all-wheel-drive (AWD) system?
A: Yes. If a bad bearing causes the ABS sensor to send erratic speed signals, the AWD control module may misinterpret wheel slip. This can cause the system to engage unnecessarily or shut down entirely.
Q3: What does "pre-load" mean in relation to wheel bearings?
A: Pre-load is the precise amount of internal tension applied to the bearing rollers during factory assembly. It ensures smooth rotation without any play. Over-torquing the axle nut destroys this pre-load
