FAQs
Q1: Can I pack the hub cavity full of grease during installation?
A: No. Modern sealed hub assemblies are pre-lubricated for life. Adding extra grease can cause overheating due to churning and may even leak onto the brake rotors, causing brake failure.
Q2: Why does my ABS light come on after a new hub installation?
A: This is usually caused by installing the hub backwards. The magnetic encoder ring must face inward toward the ABS sensor. If installed backwards, the sensor cannot read the wheel speed.
Q3: Do I need to perform a wheel alignment after replacing a hub?
A: It is highly recommended. While replacing a hub doesn't directly change suspension geometry, the removal and reinstallation process can shift settings. An alignment ensures even tire wear and proper handling.
